whoa!!! dilated...induction...high blood pressure... aka My doc visit today

Well..... the process has officially started....

Good News: We are dilated almost 2cm, she's locked into position and healthy as a horse.. or should I say pony... hmmm. They hooked me to the machine while I was there and.... surprise surprise... I'm officially having contractions... not that I needed a machine to tell me that. The pain these last few days have been crazy!

Bad news: I'm officially on bed rest. My blood pressure was high once again when I went in. Apparently it only goes down when I'm laying down, so....yea... Doc has placed me on bed rest for real this time. She started discussing induction with us one week before the due date... she's not going to let us go to the due date with the blood pressure acting up the way it is. I have to see her twice a week until the baby comes. She said she wants to try to wait it out at least one or two  more weeks just so that the LO lungs develop more, but if need be she will induce because high blood pressure= not enough blood flow getting to baby. She gave me warning signs to look out for this weekend... since she is on call.... funny thing is, I already have a few of the signs she mentioned. I'll wait it out until tomorrow though and call and see what she wants me to do.

So looks like I'll have an outside baby sooner than I thought... Needless to say... DH is super excited.... I'm getting anxious...

Yay for being almost 2cm. Boo for high BP and induction. Maybe your LO will decide to come sooner rather than later and you can avoid an induction all together.

That sounds somewhat like my visit...they're gonna induce me early due to BIG baby and my placenta is starting to age.  My blood pressure has been "borderline" for the past month, but at yesterdays appt. it was normal.  So no bed rest for me,...still working!  I was still only dilated to 1cm, so she "stretched my cervix"..OUCH!  Good luck!  Exciting!

Orion that's great that you have some progress!  Booo to the bed rest part of it.  It looks like she's going to make her grand entrance soon!  Keep me posted!

Yay for being 2cm, Boo for high blood pressure. I will pray that your baby comes sooner than later so you can avoid induction. Or even better that your blood pressure goes down and stays down. GL
