Also, ladies out there who currently work will you become a SAHM once you have children?
I work and will probably need to keep working after having kids. Although, we really want to not use daycare for at least the first year, so if we keep saving now, I'm hoping that by the time I get pg I can stay home.
Yes and no. I was a teacher's aid and had the summer off before having A. She was due in Aug, my position had to be filled at the beginning of the school year, so I was sort of fired/laid off. I had/have a pt job at a cookie store since being a SAHM.

Mmm, a cookie store? I'm hungry and that sounds really good.
Right now, I'm laid off, and I doubt anyone will hire me in the near future. I plan to stay at home as long as I can with the baby once he/she gets here... but I have a feeling it will be less than 6 months.

It is the world's best job! I fill in when they need help. I make deliveries and do clerical work. Have you heard of Cookies By Design? They do the cookie bouquets.

Yes, I have heard of them before! Your job sounds delicious. Several years ago I used to work for Nestle at one of the labs. And by labs, they were basically all kitchens. There was an endless supply of cookies, brownies, soft serve ice cream, coffee, and a whole bunch of other goodies.
I currently work in software, probably will keep working once we have the baby unless DH changes jobs before then. The goal is for me to SAH by the time have DC#2 since at that point the cost of daycare would be more than 2/3 of my salary.
I was a student, then got laid off early in my pregnancy (mortgage industry) and then was a SAHW for the rest of my pregnancy and am now a SAHM. :0)
The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
I am currently the senior editor for a publishing company, but after we have our first I will become a SAHM . . . sort of. We also own a business and I will be staying at home and running the business simultaneously.
I am a teacher, but have been at home this whole past year. I am fortunate enough that my contract allows me to take the school year off (unpaid) and still have my same position to return to in September. I feel very luck to have had all this time at home with my daughter, but I'm so scared about returning to work. Unfortunately, we can't swing me being a SAHM permanantely. We had to save like crazy while I was pg to be able to afford this extended maternity leave.

I also took a year leave from teaching, but likely will not go back. I just wanted the option. DH and I planned and saved for years for me to SAH.

I only get to be a SAHM in the summers. I wish I could stay at home all the time, but I will take what I can get for now. I am hoping to be a SAHM in a couple of years when we have all our debt paid off. We'll see...
