Sour Laundry Stink (non-diaper)

Ah, my sweet dh has been helping with the laundry lately, but never seems to get it out of the washer and into the dryer fast enough. We've had some really sour laundry.

Anyone know of a good way to get the smell out? Just washing it again does not do the trick at all.

  • Mine too. Thanks, DH. haha! But, ours stinks like a wet dog. I run it back through on a hot, short wash with about 1/4 cup of baking soda. It seems to do the trick.

  • I've had good luck adding some borax in the re-wash.  GL!

  • When that happens to me, I usually add 1/2 C vinegar and wash again. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well it works.
  • I'd try the borax or baking soda and some vinegar.  Works wonders!

  • We have this happen with our towels and washcloths alot.  I've started washing them the same way I wash my diapers, and it has helped.  I use CC for the wash (in hot), and 2 cold rinses, the first with vinegar.  Then no dryer sheets or fabric softener.
