Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you've given LO avocado...

Did it make them fussy? DS has been breaking out in spontaneous crying tantrums (totally unlike him). The only new thing is avacodo which I know has a high fat content. I should also add that we have been experiencing separation anxiety which is also brand new, so it may be related to that.

Thanks!

  • Avacado is DD favorite. No adverse reactions

  • DS had avocado - no reactions.  I wouldn't think a behavior change would be related to a food?

  • How much are you giving DC?

I was wondering if he was fussy because he isn't feeling well or the avocado is disagreeing with him. I know it has tons of fat in it and more fat than anything he's ever ate so I wonder if maybe it made his belly ache.

  • Possible, but not likely. Food allergies are usually hives and what have you, avocado is a food with lower incidence of allergies.
  • I just gave DS avocado for the first time a couple days ago.  Nothing seems out of the ordinary.

He starts spontaneous crying for no reason... like maybe he's not comfortable. Tantrum was the wrong word.

  • Ah, I see your point now... Sorry - I'm a little under the weather and my synapses aren't firing properly!  We put it in the mesh feeder, as much as it would hold - maybe an 1/8 of the whole avocado?  I would say don't give it to him again for 3 or 4 days and see if he reacts the same way?

Okay. Yeah, I guess I'll hold off for a few days.

    Thanks for everybody's help!

  • K woke up every 45 minutes the night I gave her avocado.  I think it didn't agree with her tummy.

  • DS loves avocado but it makes him very constipated. If that's the case with your DS that might explain the discomfort.

  • No problems w/the avocado, but DD cries anytime I put her down or walk out of the room.  It's exhausting, but I guess she really, really likes me.  :)

She's about the same age as your LO, so we could be experiencing the same thing.

I'm so tired I fell asleep at 8:30 last night. It's totally exhausting. I know separation anxiety starts around this time. DS has never been this attached to me.
