It's too hot for CDs :-(

Anyone else experiencing this? DS has had heat rash something terrible with his BGs. I tried lining with fleece and using powder at every changing and it's still so terrible. We even went down to just using one regular insert. That helped a little but I think with his activity level now he just gets so sweaty.

We've dropped down to paper diapers for a couple days this week and it's almost completely cleared up. Anyone else experiencing this? We've always had quite the opposite reaction. Just one day in paper and he gets a rash, now the paper is being nicer to his little bum? Something changed.

Re: It's too hot for CDs :-(

  • When it's really hot we only use fitteds with no cover. Sorry you are having trouble. Do you have any fitteds around?

  • I use fitteds and wool covers for this reason.  My little guy gets really swampy if I use PUL diapers or covers.
  • Yeah, we only use fitteds and prefolds, and wool/fleece if I absolutely need a cover.
  • We haven't really noticed this. ?Good Luck.

  • I honestly thought that some of the research I read before deciding on CDs involved bum temperatures in CD vs. sposies.  PUL diapers are the warmest but still a tiny bit cooler than the sposies.  And no chemicals, which seriously, are more of a concern around male genitalia vs. female.  Just My Humble Opinion.
  • We had a couple of really hot/humid days last week and I had both kids in just prefolds or flats or fitteds - it helped a ton!
  • Hmm...we haven't had this yet. We've had a little bit of a rash around the pants line, which I think is heat-related, but it doesn't seem to be because of the diapers. It seems to be because of the back of his pants rubbing on his lower back when he crawls.

For those of you that do fitteds with no cover, do you not put pants on over the diaper? I mean, wouldn't it just soak through the diaper into their pants if you did?
