Most of the books I've been reading suggest the EZ2Nurse pillow which doesn't fit in a glider/rocker. I'm trying to get rid of the idyllic visions of rocking my single-baby to sleep in the nursery and replace it with....?
Some books suggest a loveseat or daybed. Do you have one in the nursery? Do you nurse in your own bed? On the couch?
I'm so happy to find out we're expecting twins but didn't realize how many details I'd have to re-think!
Re: Where do you nurse?
I nurse on the couch downstairs for most of the feedings. It is pretty big so it helps me with the set up. I sit on one end and have the babies either on the couch or on the floor, or 1 on the couch and 1 on the floor.
The first feeding of the morning & the last feeding at night are done up in their room on a bed up against a wall. I have 2 large pillows for my back and a pillow on each side to support the boppy's.
I nursed my DD on the couch and just did the same with the boys. I would suggest a nursing stool. I didn't use mine for the first couple of months with my daughter and my back and knees took a toll. Once I brought it out for her the discomfort went away.
I use it all the time now.
Once you get it down you can nurse anywhere. I have even nursed the boys in our truck!
If I am just nursing one I will nurse in a comfy chair, but if I am tandem nursing I do it in the middle of my bed. I set up some pillows behind me and then sit in the middle with my nursing pillow. It's comfy and my TV is in there so I can watch while I nurse if I want.
The pp gave you some good suggestions - the bed is nice because there is plenty of room!
I just wanted to add that I had DD, then the twins. I had the rocker in the nursery and thought I would have those moments with my first, but more often than not, I ended up nursing elsewhere because it was so much more convenient. I know how much of a struggle it can be to adjust your expectations, but you really will get the same bonding and the same love from your babies no matter where you sit when you nurse!
