Bakers, need help please!

Hi ladies,

I'm making a cake for a baby shower that's on Saturday.  If I complelety finish and assemble the cake tomorrow (Thursday) how can I store it for two days?  Is that possible?  It's as simple cake with buttercream frosting.  TIA!!!

Re: Bakers, need help please!

  • I would probably bake on Friday if possible and assemble on Saturday... but you could bake and assemble on Friday if you do a simple syrup on the cake to keep it moist... and then maybe refrigerate overnight. I'm no expert, though. Maybe try the WC board on the Nest. Those ladies know everything!

Oh boo, I was hoping this wasn't the case.  I'm making a day trip on Friday and won't be able to bake then.  I was *Hoping* to get it all done tomorrow :(

  • can you bake it early sat. morning??? i've baked many a last minute cake, stuck in the freezer or fridge for fast cooling and then a quick icing. or maybe to save time you could use powdered sugar instead?

  • oh and if you don't have time to do icing well i've found coconut covers everthing!

  • I wouldn't worry about baking the cake Thurs instead of Fri, but definitely don't frost until Saturday, it will keep better unfrosted.
