Kori & BoF...help!

SO I looked them up on the BBB and they have a good rating but are a small company.  The BBB states that they are a "mulit-level marketing" company and led me to a toll free info line on how to tell the true companies from the pyramid schemes.

I called the contact for the company and played dumb.  I asked what positions were available and they told me sales and customer service/administrative.  I asked what it involved and filing and computer work was mentioned.  I don't know what to do.  I could just go to the interview and see for myself but we are SHORT on funds and it's FAR from my house.  It will be gas money and toll money wasted if it turns out to be a scheme.

WWYD?

Re: Kori & BoF...help!

  • Multi-level marketing = pyramid. ?
  • Yes, I know.  I'm holding onto something that isn't there.  I'm just having a rough go of it with this job hunt.
  • Loading the player...
  • If you go for admin, you'd likely be ok.

If you go for sales, likely not ok.

It can't hurt to go for an interview and feel them out.  You'd be out one or two trips worth of gas & tolls for interviews, and then you would know for sure.  Right ?

  • you hav nothing to lose by calling back and asking outright- tell them you are looking for a job- not an "opportunity to build your own wealth..."

even those places have home offices, right?

maybe ask what the location of the actual daily jobsite is. Or if there will be any training fees.

that was when I finally caught onto citigroup- when their response was...well, you could certainly use our office to help you accomplish your goals...

if they try to evade you- hang up. if they want $$ they're just scamming you.

mlm is such crap. but like i said- maybe they ARE hiring for their h.o.

  • I should really finish reading before I respond.  Sorry.

I guess it depends how bad things are right now.  I *MIGHT* try for the admin job if it were me.  I would NOT NOT NOT do the sales.  Hell why do you think I'm still at this job?  There's nothing out there.

But if it's really that far away, with daily commute, gas money, wear & tear on the jalopy, time spent travelling - would it even out or would it be worth it ?  I'm thinking no.

  • ditto kori- admin, maybe, sales absolutely not.
