Where you live is because .....

I'm curious as to how nesties chose where they live with their children

Are you where you are because of the good schools?

Or are schools not that important and you chose based on commute or because it's close to family

And are you thinking about moving at a later date because of ..... X

I am in my town because this is where DH is from and worked when we got married - family business

Our home is where it is because that was the lot that DH was given by his parents. All of the schools around here are the same.

Right now we are where we are because this was a good location to our jobs when we first got married. Hopefully we will move in a couple of years, and unless it's to a different state, we plan on staying in the same school district. I would like to stay in the same neighborhood if possible - safe, good parks, close to daycare, lots of kids.

It's where I grew up, and where both our families live. The only reason I'd move is if our parents' were gone.  I wouldn't mind starting over somewhere new, but only certain places...SoCal, Hawaii, Arizona, or anywhere where it's warm most of the year but doesn't have hurricanes and tornadoes. (BTW, beware of living somewhere for the schools. The HS I teach at is #1 in 5 counties for test scores and achievement, but the rinky dink town is as trashy as they come w/ no commerce and NOTHING to do....and 20 minutes from the nearest town w/ anything to do).

I fell in love with the house (little did I know it was attached to the worst neighbours ever!!!) and its close to where I grew up, where I work and not too far from the ILs.

There are no decent schools in the area so we will be commuting for that as we want our kids to go to Irish speaking schools.

I'd move if I could afford a detached house. We live in a Semi-detached.

We're where we live because the area is safe and we could afford a decent house here. The schools are average. If they had been horrible, we would have looked elsewhere. The areas with the really good schools are far too expensive for us.

We live in the area that we do because my husband got a job on the fire department here.  We would have gone wherever he got a job.

We live in our particular town because of our house.  My mom and step-dad built a new house, so we are buying their old one for next to nothing.  We are just lucky that the schools here are great and we are close to family, but not TOO close.

If we still lived in the town that DH actually works in when our kid(s) were in school, we'd have sent them out of district.

We live here because this is where my job "was". My parents live 20 minutes away too and are a God send. We would love to move to a warmer climate, but we would never be able to sell our house right now. DH can live basically anywhere with the type of job that he has.

Because of my DH's job.  We plan on moving before DS gets to middle school because the middle school he'd be going to if we stayed in our neighborhood is awful.  I'd move out of TX completely if it weren't for DH's job and our family being here.  I hate the summer heat.

We are here because DH is in school.  Once school is finished, we will move out of Michigan.

We own a business in the town we live in.  I grew up in the town as well and I like it.  Supposedly the schools are good, but since I don't plan on sending my kids to the public schools it wasn't a make or break on where we live.  We would like to move to a neighboring town, but since I work an hour away from where we currently live (DH and FIL work at the place we own, I work for another company) that's not likely right now.

We both grew up here.  We are still here because DH is too chicken to move. 

I've tried.  Even had my dream job, dream town...  but no.  We're still here.  I focking hate it here, have since I was 10.

We chose the area we live in because the housing is more family oriented. It's a newer community, so it's mostly young families with kids close to DS's age. We also like the fact that it's a bit farther away from most of our family (45 min). The schools right now are great. They are brand new and have great reports so far. I'll let you know how they are in 3 years!
