Glass storage containers for lunch?

I'm looking for some glass storage containers DH and I can use to bring lunch food in instead of plastic. They don't need to be too big  - I'm looking for ones that can hold a cup or two of things like yogurt and soup. All of the sets I find sell a variety of sizes, and I really just want a set (or inexpensive single item so I can buy a bunch) of just one size. Recommendations? Has anyone found something like this?

Re: Glass storage containers for lunch?

  • I have a number of Anchor Hocking ones that I LOVE!! I have various sizes of them. I really need more of them because I am totally phasing out the plastics in our house. - Oh - funny - they are cheaper in the grocery store than at Target!

ETA: mine didn't come together. The ones I get are sold seperately (but with colored rubbery lids).

  • Pyrex and achor sells sets of three of either 1cup or 2cup glass bowls with lids which are BPA free...I think I got them for 4 or 5$...I found them at my walmart HTH!

  • funny you posted this...i picked up four ounce mason ball jars at target for yogurt and also babyfood (when i get my butt in gear and start to make it).

i've also been looking for more though in a variety of sizes.  i think goodwill or a thrift store that has a home goods section probl. would have a nice selection of old glass containers with lids for cheap!

  • I have some pyrex from our supermarket that I use, and I really want to check out KMart (I know - not a place I usually frequent...) for their Martha Stewart glass bowls (have covers, like my pyrex, and someone said they were very cheap).  I have pampered chef small bowls that work as prep bowls and are the perfect size for yogurt/other small amounts.  I love them!  They come in a set of 6, I believe...  all have their own lids.

  • My Target sells pyrex containers individually in several sizes. I use those
  • I found some at Crate & Barrel.
  • I found some that hold about a cup at Ikea, I think they are meant to be spice jars. I use them for taking dry oatmeal, sugar and stuff like that to have at my desk at work. The lids might not work for wet stuff though, they don't seal really well.
  • I found a set of 4 small round ones at Home Goods that we made in the US.  We also have the 9 piece pyrex set that includes some small ones.  I would check out a Bed Bath and Beyond or Target for the pyrex or anchor hocking - those 2 are the best brands.
