I have been having sever pelvic pain and was looking up possible aids in making it more bearable. It seems like I have pelvic separation, and it's not just normal hip spreading. The pain has been so bad that i can't sleep on my side and instead sleep alone in the glider in the nursery. Has anyone else been through this. I am going to the Midwife on thurs, and am hoping she'll have answers.
Re: Has anyone had pelvic separation?
I've posted this before for someone with pelvic pain...I just copy and pasted it from my other post. (sorry it's so long)
My pelvic pain started at 24-25 weeks and my OB said it could be pelvic symphysis misalignment/seperation which can happen in pregnancy. He said telltale signs of this condition can include:
When your laying in bed and switch sides is it more painful in your pelvis and inner groin? (I would have to have my DH help me keep my legs together when I switched sides, that helps. I would scream out at night it would hurt so bad)
Is it unbearable to put your pants on one leg at a time?
I see a physical therapist once a week to help with the pain and realign my pelvis...I think some people see chiropractors for this too?
My therapist said I could help the pain by
1. Kegels and "butt squeezing" to strenghten the pelvic floor
2. Keep your knees together when changing positions in bed and when getting in and out of the car. (swing your legs out together before standing up)
3. Wear satin/silky pajamas or have satin sheets to help moving in bed. *this HELPS a lot!!!!! At least for me it is.
4. Do gentle swimming this summer to strenghten your inner thighs and ease the gravity on your pelvis.
5. He advised me NOT to favor one side/leg or the other because that could cause my muscles to pull my pelvis out of alignment more.
6. Use heat and cold packs to help the pain.
7. Keep a pillow inbetween your legs when laying down.
I would talk to your doctor...I've been doing what the therapist suggested for awhile and it already seems better. I hope this helps. Good luck!
I've had pain in my pubic bone and groin for several weeks now. ?I've found that it helps a lot to sleep with a pillow between my legs. It's also helpful during the day to make sure that I'm getting up at regular intervals to walk around. ?The pain is always worse if I've been sitting or lying down for a while. ?I've heard that a maternity support belt can help, but it did nothing for me.

I think I remember ANG posting something about this to, you should ask her...
sorry if I am remembering incorrectly
