PSA: Albertson's gives free 1st bday cakes!

M and I went out to get a smash cake for 1st birthday pictures we're doing tomorrow with Rebecca.  I planned to just get one of those mini personal sized cakes but they didn't have any, then I saw this sign at the bakery that said free 1st birthday cakes, ask for details.  So I asked, and the gal said they give a free one layer round cake for first birthdays.  I picked one out of the case with some pretty roses (normally 8 bucks!) and she wrote "Happy 1st Birthday Mikayla" on it.  So if you need a simple smash cake, there ya go.  Yay for free!

Yep, here's Tillmans (from Alberstons).  I thought you had to buy a regular cake, though, in order for it to be free.  That was also almost three years ago, so perhaps things have changed.

We got one too from Thriftway in Marysville when I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake the smash cake was free.

Nope, I didn't have to buy anything, it was no purchase necessary, they just handed me the cake and said, "Happy birthday".  I kept waiting for security to tackle me in the parking lot for being a cake thief. 

Is that the same for Safeway too or do you have to buy a sheet cake to get the freebie?  We usually do Costco cakes for sheet cakes, grocery store icing is tooooo sugary for me.

From when my friend did it, you didn't have to purchase a cake.
