NBR: How do you block a phone # from calling you?

Or can you??  There's this one # that keeps calling us and when we answer, no one is there.  I google'd it and it appears that a lot of people have a problem with this #.  It's a non-profit apparently, so they are exempt from the DNC list.  I'd ask to be removed from their call list - but they don't answer!  It's clearly automated and messed up.  They call and wake up my kid and it's NOT COOL.  Anyhow, does anyone know if there's an easy way to block this number from being able to call me???  I google'd that question (and looked on Verizon) and nothing really helped.  Ugh.

  • First off, turn off any phones that are anywhere where Mattie can hear them!  We have no phones that ring upstairs.  :)

Second, I guess I'd call Verizon if that's who does your phone and see what they can do.  I think the phone company woudl have to do it specially for you somehow.

I know, I know.  Here's the thing...our main living space (living room/kitchen/bedrooms) are all on one level.  So if we turn the phone off, we won't hear it.  Not alltogether a bad idea, but I shouldn't have to turn my phone off at this time of night - its too late to call!  Also, the ringer is down as low as it can go and it's still super loud.  I know we should just change to cell only, but I can't give up the idea of a land line.  Call me old-fashioned.

  • I cant' imagine going to all cell.  I swear my cell drops calls and stuff - I wouldnt' trust it.

I do think there's a way to block all calls after a certain time, or to not allow calls with no caller ID through.

  • Whew!  I thought you were trying to block me  ;)

I hate those- HATE HATE HATE - I totally feel your pain.  Let me know if you get an answer.

  • Is it an Oregon number?  If so it could be a call center that tries to renew memberships for non-profits.

I had this same thing.  I googled the phone number and I found a site where they had a link to input your information and get off of their call list.  I think it's worked for me because I've been call free for 2 days.

I think mine was their attempt to get me to renew my Seattle Aquarium membership.  Annoying.

  • We are getting the same calls.  It comes up as Medford Oregon on our caller ID and is driving me crazy!!! Let me know if you come up with something.
