Baby Names

Help with Indian boy names!

Hello~ My husband and I aren't finding out the sex and have settled on a girl name but can't agree on a boy name. He is Indian and would like some sort of Indian name- which I'm fine with. My only problem is that I find a lot of the Indian boy names hard to pronounce/spell. I'm looking for simple Indian boy names, if you have any suggestions, please let me know. Just to give you an idea of a few of the names I like (but he doesn't) include "Navin" and "Kirin".

I'm open to any suggestions! I'm tired of scouring the indian baby name web sites!

Thanks!?

Re: Help with Indian boy names!

  • I taught a boy named Harjinder and he went by Jinder.

     Other names:

Aashin, Ajay, Nirav, Niral-  that's all I can remember right now.

  • I love the name Anil.

    I love the name Anil.

I do as well. I had childhood friends (they were brothers) named Anil and Kabil. I really like those.

  • I taught a little boy named Hemang (Hey-mong) and he was a doll, so I like that name : )
  • My brother has a good friend named Sunil, he goes by Neil sometimes - which makes it easier for people to spell.

I have no suggestions but I do love Anil.?

  • I know a Tarak.

  • What area of India is your DH from?  I am an ESL teacher an all of my students from India have different names based on what part of India they are from and what religion they practice.  So it is hard to list names without that kind of background, IMO.

    From area which speaks Telgu:

    Punit

    Arpit

    Prajit

    Area that speaks Kanada/Tamil:

    Rohith

    Kalyan

    Area that speaks Gujarati:

    Aryan

    Ronak

Shivani (girls name...very pretty...just wanted to share)

    Riyah (girls name also)

I've also had a brilliant (off the charts IQ) student named Pranaav.

  • I went to school with guys named Dev (might have been short for something?), Nikileshwara (he went by Nikil), and Sunil

  • My friend's dad is Samir, he goes by Sam. He's Bengali.

One of the easiest to pronounce boy Indian names that I've seen is Paresh. I also think Ajay and Vijay meet that criteria.
