Baby Music

Okay, firstly, I'm a huge fan of the "classic" baby entertainment media...basically, the stuff I grew up with.  By this, I mean Sesame Street, The Muppets, etc.  While I have the books and movies covered, I've been researching some baby or children's music and I wanted to know if anyone can suggest any cd's they particularly liked or disliked.  There are so many choices I'm tentative to go by the little blips they give you as "samples" or the few reviews I've found.  TIA =)

ETA: I want to find things that will stimulate baby as an infant/toddler also...not just "soothing" music, but I'm worried because I find a LOT of the kids stuff that's out today (TV, Music, etc) to be really obnoxious.

  • DH and I are fans of the Curious George soundtrack by Jack Johnson. It's really soothing and nice for adults or kids (some tracks are definitely more kid-like though).

  • I love Elizabeth Mitchell.  Her voice is so sweet. She does a song called "Little Bird" that is so cute and her version of "You are My Sunshine" is really nice.  You can listen to her music at:

you can pick your favorite artists, and they have lullaby renditions of the songs.  we used to carry this label, and i bought a few for friends' babies before I got PG, and their kids LOVED them.  the beatles, cure, and ramones were big hits with them.

i wouldn't call it educational by any means, but i plan on playing mine while he's sleeping.
