update to my update (not good)

So apparently my mom didn't want to tell me but yesterday they found a spot on her lung when they did xrays...not a small spot.  She used to be a smoker in her younger years.  They are referring her to a specialist, but I don't think this is going to turn out good.  I know I have to think positively, but I've had too much education in lung cancer to do so. Need bumpie/humpie/nestie prayers.

I'm at work right now...I just want to go home.

Oh man.  I was so happy when I read your earlier post about things being okay.  I'm sorry - I hope it's nothing.  FWIW, they've been seeing a spot on my Grandpa's lung for YEARS.  Every time he goes to the hospital (he's 92, so it happens a lot) they freak out.  My mom always has to calm the doctors down and say it's nothing - which it is...it's just there serving no purpose and not hurting anything.  He smoked for many years too.

I have a friend with rectal cancer that has spread to her lungs, and she just had surgery on both lungs to remove the remaining spots - and not all of the "spots" were cancerous.  So like m&m said, a spot doesn't necessarily mean cancer. 

 Just make sure she's seeing an oncologist she really likes and who will work hard for her.... having good care is really important.

I hope she's OK.
