labeling clothes

I've been using permanent markers, but they bleed through dd's tagless shirts.  I don't want to use tape because I'd like to do this once and not have to worry about re-labeling after a wash.  Any recs?  Thanks.

Honestly, I don't label much.  When I do, I use a Sharper marker and I do it on the tag.  I label their coats and now my 3 year old has water days so I have to label her swim suit and towel but no issues so far.
