I love the name but DH immediately vetoed it, saying it's a boy name. What?! I guess he knew a guy in high school whose name was Emmaline (not sure if it was spelled that way). Is it just me or is it really more of a girls name? It's not even that common but I definitely have never heard of it as a boy name.. ?

Re: Emmaline a boy's name?!???
It is not a boy's name.
Of course people can do anything they want so they could give this name to a boy but as a whole, it is perceived as a girl's name.
This
That is hilarious!
Emmaline is definitely a girl's name. ?Your DH just doesn't like it. ?My DH came up with some lame excuse for every name he didn't like, too.?
He tells this story about how he managed to successfully keep it a secret and go by his mn, Dale, until 9th grade when he moved to a small town and his PE teacher was taking role and said "WTH, Wanda?!?! This is a BOYS gym class!!!"...he's a big man though. No one in their right mind would mess with Wanda.
Edit: Stupid bump. I'm not sure what happened up there.
Actually traditionally Ashley, Kelly and Loren were male names. So that doesn't actually work.
But no, Emmaline is definitely not a boy's name.
What! That poor boy!
Well, your DH knowing a boy with that name does not make it "a boy's name."
I'm sure this thread will help you if you show him because everyone is going to say "girl." And it's a nice girl name at that.

Actually, Lindsey, Ashley, Kelly were all boys' names before they were girls' names, and Loren has been a boys' name for decades. I don't know why you would say that...
That said, Emmaline is definitely not a boy's name.
I was thinking this too after reading that post! This is like how I *really* think that many present day moms don't realize that Madison and Addison are boy names, too.

ditto.
Definitely a girl name this is my nieces mn.
I was thinking the same thing . . . reminds me of the song "A Boy Named Sue."
It's a girl's name for sure.
