i am seriously looking into working from home. at my current job this isn't an option, but I'm checking out my options right now, thinking about doing it...if it's worth it of course.
would you share your experience with me if you presently work @ home or if you have in the past? what do you do? do you like it? how much time do you dedicate to work during a typical week? did you take a cut in pay? any advice? am i asking too many questions? do you like pizza? what color are your socks?
thanks a bunch, and feel free to disregard the last three questions!
Re: XP from 0-6: attention WAHMs!
Hi,
I currently work from home. I am a recruiter for a large retailer. I recruit for different states. My previous company I worked as a Recruiter for financial co. and again recruited for different states. Everything I do is over the phone and by computer. I have been recruiting for over 8 years and started from college.
DH and I are getting a nanny/housekeeper to come into our home once the baby comes. I work more hours at home than I ever did in an office (about 50/no chit-chatting going on!) My pay has increased with each job. I know other people that are recruiters that work from home. It depends if you have to do face-to-face interviews. I have a friend that is a property manager from home. She goes to properties twice a month.
I know the bank I used to work for had flex hours where you could work from home a few times a week.
Let me know if you have any questions.
i would definitely like to know more about this recruiting that you do! if you could point me toward a web page or something that would be great, thank you!
i live in a very rural area, so face-to-face interviews may be an impossibility, but i would love to know more about the type of work that you do!
I work from home 3-4 days a week. I'm a business proposal writer for a Big Four accounting firm, with 11 years of experience in Communications/PR/Marketing. I'm the only one from my team (across 7 states) in my office. Unless I have a proposal going on out of my local office, I don't really have to be there every day.
I do tend to work more hours since I can work from home. I do have full-time daycare, and my teams always know that from 5-8pm it is MY time with my family. My boss feels very strongly about finding a work/life balance, since things can be extremely busy at times.
I agree that most of us who do work at home have already had these positions prior to wanting to do it. When I took this job back in September, I really had no idea the pros and cons of being able to work at home; but right now the pros do out-weigh the cons.
Good luck!
