Now here's a topic I can get behind! They added a lot to the first season. My theory is since the books are told from Sookie's standpoint, they have to invent stories for the rest of the characters when she's not around. Clearly, Tara was not a big character in the first book. How many of the books have you read? Second season starts Sun, I am psyched. Although I keep hearing that this season diverges even further.
Yeah, they did add a lot to the TV show. I've read all the books released so far and I can't wait to see how the series develops. Unfortunately since I don't have HBO, I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
Have you read the Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter series? If you like the Sookie Stackhouse books, you might enjoy these too. The Anita Blake series came first, and it seems like Charlaine Harris might have borrowed some of her ideas from that series (and it seems like Stephenie Meyer borrowed some ideas from Charlaine Harris).

I'm on the last one. I thought I was done before but I missed the last 3.

It's fun but I think a little different than sookie stackhouse. FWIW - I've enjoyed both series.

I think it's a pretty good series, but it violence is a bigger part of the story in the Anita Blake series. Also, about midway through the series, the sexual themes get more prominent and a bigger component of the storyline (although they didn't come out of nowhere-the sexual theme becomes part of the story line so it isn't completely gratuitous). If I hadn't been so invested in the characters I might have stopped reading. I'm an obsessive reader so once I get into a series that I like, I have to read as many books as are out there (I've read all the Anita Blake's too).
I'm on book 3 and have watched the first 2 episodes of season 1 ... they definitely deviate from the books some (Tara being a big one). I read someplace online where they had a chart of the differences and where some of it came from. They definitely pull from a couple of later books from what I understand. I really like the books, I'm not so sure on the show yet (my sisters fiance calls it Soft Vampire Porn hahah).

Yeah, they added a lot to the show that wasn't in the book for the first season. It will be interesting to see how the second season plays out. I'm curious to see if the lady with the long brown hair that they brought into the season finale is the Maenad.

Alright then ladies, the million dollar question:
Who is the right guy for Sookie? (will that be a spoiler I shouldn't discuss?)
