  • It is scary how live these dolls look.

  • That is easily one of the creepiest things I've ever read about.

  • wow.  those pictures, coupled with the article, are really disturbing.
  • there's just something not right about all that.

    BFP 5/24/13 - Natural MC 6/7/13
    BFP 8/13/13 - Natural MC 8/27/13

Removal of  ruptured right tube 5/8/14
    IVF or adoption??
  • I saw a special on BBC America about this a few months ago. The dolls kinda creeped me out and the women that they interviewed that had them seemed a little *off* IMO.
  • I watched a documentary about women who have these dolls. It is very strange. I understand that some need healing from tragedies, but this seems so unhealthy...

  • These dolls freak me right out. Okay I understand maybe you missed out on having children of your own, but has anyone ever heard of adoption? Or if thats out of the question there is always fostering little ones or becoming a big brother/sister. I would be totally skeeved out to look into a baby stroller and find some whacko pushing a creepy looking doll that has a mechanism to make it look like it is breathing!

I actually think that this level of crazy would be better off with dolls no?

Yes, please.  Do we really want to give children to a woman in her 50s who puts a f*cking doll in a stroller, walks with them on the street and asks passersby if the "baby" is cute?

I'm all for reborns and cats for these folks.

  • My two year old DD has a Berenguer newborn doll. One day, when DS was a newborn, we were at a museum, and she put the doll next to our DS in the double stroller.  As we were strolling around several people asked if they were twins. At first I thought they were making a joke and then I realized they were serious.Indifferent

Wait...they "breathe?"  I missed that part...I am officially freaked the heII out.

And lanie, I agree -- for the crazies, better a doll than a real baby.

Weird! DD's doesn't breathe. It's just a normal baby doll that looks kind of real.

  • That's just sad.
  • I actually read an article about six months ago about these dolls. They were talking with a man in england who not only had one of the babies but was "married" to a real doll which is one of those very life like, expensive "pleasure" dolls. His baby doll not only breathed but had a heartbeat mechanism as well...scary
