Fvcking pathology report :: Fail

My doctor's office called me today about the pathology testing done on the twins. All she could tell me was that it was consistent with products of conception. WOW, thanks for that! You mean, I had a miscarriage?! That was so fvcking helpful!

What the hell? I'm angry, sad, dissapointed, upset, confused. What does this mean? I didn't really expect a reason for the m/c, but SOMETHING would have been nice. How far along were they? Did both babies form? Was there a chromosomal issue? There were a thousand things that pathology report could have said, and all I get is you were pregnant, and then you weren't?

I feel like crying. Damn them.

  • I got that same report at mine and I just looked at my OB like "And?"  I don't know what I expected but that wasn't it.

    I"m sorry, i know that report does not help at all.

  • Thanks ladies, just getting it out and talking to people who've been there helps.

    That does help, actually. I'm not the only one! It sucks, what are we supposed to do with that?

    Ask for a copy of the report. But, sometimes the cells don't grow when they culture. That's probably what happened.

    I asked the nurse. I said, "I have no idea what that means. It just says I had a miscarriage? I already knew that" She apologized and said that was all it said. *sigh*

  • Ugh, my OB has told me this may be the result......that really sucks! I go on the 18th for my f/u. I was really hoping for an answer, but this helps me prepare for suckiness, hang in there.

  • dammit, don't these people understand that this is a very sensitive situation??  they need to have some compassion when dealing with path reports.

    my suggestion would be to call back and leave a message for the dr to call you back or make an appt to discuss the results with the dr.  not the nurse.  hope it helps!

  • Ug, I'm sorry.  I think it only makes it worse when there are so many questions left unanswered.

    This is also what I got. My doctor said "the product of reproduction was normal." essentially meaning no chromosomal issues or development issues, but yes, miscarriage nonetheless. Not having an answer is awful, but in the end, means that we had no major health issues otherwise. Def. ask for copy of report.

    m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011
  • That happened to me with my 2nd mc because at 6 weeks there is not enough "contents" usually to test. They try but it usually doesn't work. They have to send 1/2 to pathology and 1/2 for testing at by that time if you only progressed to was about equal to 6 weeks (that is really only 4 weeks pregnant) and if things weren't developing right it was prob even smaller than that. Sorry, I feel the same way as you!

    I am sorry - and I feel you pain.  All of my bloodwork showed nothing and I should hear this week that Pathology showed nothing as well.  I understand how hard it is to hear "it was just bad luck but the good news is you can try again with no problems".  Oh yeah prove to me I can try again and there will be no problems I tried twice already and there were problems.  And if one more person tells me "third times a charm" they will get hit.  I really do not get why people can't just say that svcks big time - I am so sorry!

    Sorry I guess I let out a vent in your vent.

  • I'm sorry.  I know how frustrating that is, since I got the same report.  Chromosomal analysis didn't work since cells didn't grow.  Pathology consistent with miscarriage (gee, thank you, because I didn't know that was what happened!).  No answers.  I am trying to accept that sometimes things out of our control happen and there are no answers.  But it is difficult.
