Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does your LO favor you over your DH?

We are having a hard time with this right now.  It has gotten extremely worse in the two short weeks I have been home from summer break.  I can't imagine what it is going to be like by the end of August when I go back to school.  DS doesn't have a problem if I leave him with DH, but the minute I come in the door he is trying to get to me, yelling mama, etc.  I can tell DH is hurt, but there isn't anything I can do about it.

Re: Does your LO favor you over your DH?

  • Doesn't every baby prefer their mommy to their daddy?  I think it's completely normal.  DH just understands that's the way things are.  We did carry them from 9 months - that's worth something!
  • DD is pretty laid back and doesn't really experience any axiety over stragers (knock of wood) but there are definately times when Mom is the only person who can calm and comfort.  I know that DH prefers that it would be the other way, but he knows it's not (exactly) personal.

  • DD is the same way (I'm a WAHM and with her most of the time). She's fine if I leave while she's napping and DH or MIL/whoever get her up but if she sees me she cries and reaches her arms out to me.
  • Yes he does, but I just tell DH that DS will prefer him later in life and longer and to let me enjoy my time while it lasts.

  • Yes, I'm not sure I know any kid our LOs age that doesn't prefer mommy.

  • It depends - DH is "more fun" than me so I think DS prefers DH for playtime.  If he's hurt or sick - it's mama all the way!

Ditto this.  He definitely prefers DH for playtime.  But tired or hurt -- all mama!
