disney and strollers?

What did you do, take your stroller? I am not renting one for 15.00/day for 105.00 rental for the week! We want to take our stroller but can't decide to just take the umbrella one or the travel system. Is it a pain to take on the monorail, buses, etc? What did you do with it when you were in restaurants? Your input is greatly needed and appreciated! Flying with it is not a problem because we can check it in at the gate. Thanks!

Re: disney and strollers?

  • I would take the travel system.  That way if she gets tired she can lay down.  I am renting a double from babiesbestfriend.com for $85/week.  The singles are cheaper I know you said you didn't want to but it is an option.

  • I would take the umbrella if your dd is 2.5. About the restaurants- there are surprisingly few in the parks and usually they are completely booked b/c of people on meal plans making reservations before they go. Are you purchasing a meal plan? Either way, if you want to eat in the restaurants, I would make reservations ahead of time. There are stoller drop off places all over the parks, and nobody bothers your stoller when you leave them there, hth!

  • but then how do you take it on the monorail, bus, etc. What do you do with it when you are on a ride or in a restaurant?
  • there is stroller parking I paid extra for a bike lock to put through the wheel so no one steals it.

Yes, we have the meal plan and booked our meals. I want to take the travel system to have the basket and cup holders and a tray for dd to eat or have a drink on, etc. KWIM? But I want to know how to take them on the monorail, bus, etc.

  • the monorail should be easy you will be able to just push it in.  The busses you will have to fold it and carry it.

  • I use my maclaren triumph and just fold it on the monorail and buses.  For restaurants/rides they have stroller parking (with attendents) and just have your name on yours because they do park them and move them around.  I have a bright orange tag with our name on ours.  I've done this for the last 3 trips and never had a problem with strollers.  We're going again in a about 7 wks.

We went for a week in Feb when DS turned 3 and I honestly think having the travel system would have been a PITA b/c it is so bulky. We have a Maclaren Volvo umbrella stroller so it has a basket underneath and we bought a travel cupholder from BRU that screwed onto the handle bar. Leaving the stroller in stroller parking while you are on a ride or in the restaurant is not an issue though.....

  • We just took DD in Feb (she was just over 2).  We debated betwen the travel system and the McLaren, and decided on the McLaren (is that sp right?),  We were SO glad we did!  It was perfect, easy to collapse (for the tram and bus), easy to navigate in park 'traffic'.  I would definitely recommend it.  Ours reclines a bit, has a basket underneath, and a sun shade.

I also would definitely take and not rent, we used our a lot outside of the park (airport, around the resort, walking to the bus)

    Have fun!

Oh, and check out www.allears.net it is a great site for disney tips!

  • btw the link is https://www.abbf.com/index.html

you rent it and they bring it right to your resort and pick it up at the end of your stay.  This way you have it for your whole trip

  • thank you everyone!
  • I'm a little late in posting but I had my NEW double stroller stolen from Sea World down in Orlando.  We were watching a shower and had it parked in one of the designated areas.  And let's just say that the staff there was a little less than helpful.  Whenever we go anywhere with our stroller now and have to leave it, I lock it with a bike lock.
