Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Bday Party Favors

I need ideas for first bday party favors. ?I went to a bday party this past weekend and got a very nice favor that was really for the parents. ?I'm just confused as to whether the favor should be for the kids (who will be between 6 months and 1.5 years) or for the parents.

TIA for any recommendations, etc. ??

Re: Bday Party Favors

  • I was under the impression that if it is a kid's b-day party, then there are favors for the kids, not the parents.

All I am planning on doing is bubbles. Hardly anyone around here does favor bags, esp. if the kids are not in school yet.

  • Favors and goody bags are for kids. That is nice of them...but kind of weird lol. I guess if it was a 1 year old bday party and there were no kids they thought it would be nice. Otherwise kind of weird. You freaking New Yorkers always trying to out do everyone Wink.

My recomendation. Twilight DvDs for the kids.

  • I hope you know I was 110% kidding.

My friend gave DD this super sweet goody bag with a fancy rattle in it.

  • I'm thinking getting favors that are age appropriate for 6-18 month olds would be tough... Generally speaking I'm all for kids' bday party favors being just for the kids but when the kids are that small I don't think there's anything wrong with doing family-themed favors.  Like zoo, "art class," or children's museum passes or something along those lines.

    I know you were kidding, although I am a Twilight groupie . . . .

The gift was very nice-- it was FOR the kids but not something the kid would use. ?I'm trying to be discrete-- kind of like a diaper bag but not that. ?

ETA: ?I agree with Larks. ?There were kids of all ages there so something age appropriate would be tough. I am a big fan of edible favors and was thinking of cute cookies but I know I would have eaten that, not my child who barely eats any table food! ??

  • My friend just had a birthday party for her son and gave all the babies goodie bags with little containers of puffs and goldfish crackers, squeaky bath toys and small toy sports balls since it was a sports theme.  The older kids got goodie bags with candies.  I thought it was cute and simple.
  • I think it should be for the kids. Is it awful to just skip it? I can't really think of anything really great that is not too expensive. I was planning on filling mini sandbox pails with things like little maracas, bubbles, and a mini bag of goldfish.
