I've read that for adults with trouble sleeping, the bed and bedroom should only be for sleep (and sex, I guess). No watching tv or reading in bed, no laying in bed and doing work on the laptop, just sleep.
So I was wondering if the same would apply for a baby having trouble sleeping in their crib. I play peek-a-boo and other things with Jack when he's in his crib. Maybe this is why he doesn't want to go to sleep there at night?
I know this is a stretch, but you have to admit, it does kinda make sense. Do your LO's play in the crib, and if so, do you have problems getting them to sleep in it too?
Re: Do you let your LO play in their crib?
I don't leave DS in the crib for any longer than absolutely necessary. You want it to be a comfortable, familiar place but not somewhere associated with playtime. We're lucky in that he assumes it's nap/bedtime when he's in the crib.
It does make sense though.
No, K is only ever in the crib to sleep. We only sleep (and have sex) in our bed, and like you said, we figured the same would apply to baby. She's a good sleeper.
It's worth a shot with your LO.
I don't put him in there to play randomly, but he plays in there for awhile when he wakes up in the morning, and when he's going down for naps.
Edit: And he's a great sleeper
