TTC After a Loss

New Dr. Appt Update

I love my new Dr. She was so nice and really talked me off the cliff I've been on for 8 weeks now.

First and foremost, she said that as of right now she will not test me for anything. She read through all 100 pages of my records (I know this because she knew all my dates, my beta levels, the day of my D&C, when I had tested on an HPT, everything! I was shocked!) and said that after looking at it she said that she thinks we've had two really bad luck cases and that we got pregnant way to fast the second time. (Mind you, quack shack Dr. told us it would be okay)

I asked her if she thought the perigestational hemorrhage and extra sac of fluid had anything to do with the second m/c and she said that she absolutely thought that is what caused it.

She said that she doesn't believe in checking betas and doing early u/s's because at the end of the day they don't help and they just add extra stress. Her example was my last pregnancy where I had all of that done and it still didn't work and just caused extra anxiety. I think I will be okay with this next time around.

She said that if I have a normal cycle in June and July then I can try again in August. She also thought my period should show in 2-3 weeks. (I agree since I have all the signs of O time right now)

She did an exam and said that everything looks just fine. Yea! I wasn't botched by Dr. Quack Shack.

Overall I'm a little disappointed that she didn't want to do anything testing but it was sooo nice to hear someone say "I really honestly don't believe that there is anything wrong with you." It was a huge relief.

I do however, still have the script to do the RPL testing from Dr. Quack Shack, which I will go do on CD 24 of my next cycle. That way, I can know if there IS something wrong or not or if the new Dr. is right.

The main thing she told me was to relax. She said I have to stop testing at 10DPO and just test when AF is due, call her office if it's positive, and they will see me four weeks after that. She did say though that if something does start to go wrong then to call her asap and she will do everything in her power to test me and check me out so she can to help me.

So, from now until August, we will be playing it safe. When all of my new supplies arrive, I'm going to give them to DH and let him hide them. I'll have him give me 10 OPK's for each month, just so I can make sure I'm ovulating, and hide the rest.

Sorry for such a long post but it was a lot to type.

  • I am so happy your appt went well and the dr actually read the chart.  Refreshing isnt it?  Im so happy that they dont think that there is a problem that is causing you to m/c and that you can ttc again in August!

Im glad you had a good experience!  Isnt it great to go to a new dr?  If I have learned anything on these boards, it is that you have to be proactive in your own healthcare!

    Congrats Kate

I'm so glad you like you new doc!! Sounds like you have a real dedicated professional on your side! I always really nice when the doc actually reads your chart before seeing you!

PS-I saw the RE fri and he didn't want to do rpl testing either. He thinks it was bad luck both times. He did agree to do the genetic testing though.

  • My one ?? ~  what does the RPL hurt??

I begged for it after my 2nd loss.  It did find something to treat with vitamins.  My Dr. was giving me the bad luck speech too~  I don't understand what it hurts??  Thoughts?

  • Kate, I'm so happy you like the new doctor!  I'm glad she took the time to read over your chart ahead of time and to explain everything to you, and I'm so glad you are reassured and have a plan going forward.  Yay!
