DS has a CT Scan scheduled on Wednesday, and they have to sedate him so he won't move. ?Anyone gone through sedation with their LO before? ?I'm wondering what I should expect in terms of how it will affect him in the day(s) after the procedure.
My DD had a CT scan, which she wasn't sedated for, but she was sedated for the surgery she had a week later (at 11 mos. old). She had a dermoid cyst above her eye that was removed. Surgery was at 7am and by 1:30pm she woke up and was completely back to normal. HTH and good luck!
My DD just had a CT Scan last week and they just swaddled her in the hospital sheet and secured it with the medical tape to keep her still. They were just scanning her head though, and the scan literally took 1-2 mins. They opted for CT vs. MRI b/c the MRI they would have to sedate and they didn't want to do that. Maybe you can ask if they can just swaddle him instead of sedate? Is he allowed to eat before hand? They let me give her a bottle so she would be content. GL!

ds needed to be sedated for a mri. I was really scared about it but he handled it fine. We had it done at a children's hospital so your experience may be different, but ds had a nurse that was with him at ALL times while he was sedated to monitor him. It was a little weird seeing him go to "sleep" and he really fought them-they had to inject him thru the IV like 3 times b/c he kept kicking his legs. During the actual sedation though there was a dr. with him and she explaned everything and told us what was normal. When he woke up he ate immediately and we took him home. Of course he was a little drowsy but other than that he was his normal self. They tell you to be careful b/c they will have the head and limb control of a 1 month old for about 24 hours after, but ds didn't have any that. I actually think the worst part is not feeding him for 6 hours ahead of sedation-he did ok until about an hour before they sedated him-he cried on and off b/c he was hungry. He woke up the next day like nothing had happened.
SD had an MRI at 2yo... she has a hemangioma on her nose. They masked her down with isoflourane gas, then placed the IV. She did fine, went to sleep quickly. Woke up and was ok, had to drink some juice before we could leave. Went home and napped
