Babies: 9 - 12 Months

at 7 mos I am weaning my BF baby.

part of me feels guilty, part of me is rejoicing and part of me is not ready to give it up. Did anyone else feel similar feelings? DD seems totally fine with it.?

  • I felt all of those emotions too...it was hard at first but DS seems to have adapted well.

  • I had the exact same feelings when I weaned DS about a month ago.  He was fine with it, though.  I know it's hard, but she'll be fine.  You made it 7 months...that's something to be proud of!

as of right now - im still BFing her at nite so

    430am (or so) she BF's

    7am - 6oz bottle

    10 - food

    12 - baby food

    3-4pm - 6oz bottle?

    6pm - baby food

    7pm - 6oz bottle, bedtime

Thats pretty much her schedule. Sometimes theres more finger foods in there and sometimes an extra bottle.?

  • I am weaning right now too, and feel totally the same way!  I miss having him *need* me in that manner, but love the ease of feeding him now, and not stressing about how much he is getting.  I also LOVE not having to pump, and I only did once a day!  But it is mostly sad for me because it means he is growing up.  The good news is he is doing better on formula, we had a rough start, and is a phenomenal solids eater.  Best of luck!

I just BF'd DS for the last time this morning. I was hoping to continue the morning feeding for another week, but my body has just closed down shop once i started weaning.  It was sad and I am a bit sad today, but I didn't even have enough to finish feeding DS this morning (had to give him a bottle afterward).

GL to you!  7 months is awesome!!

  • I'm going through the exact same thing right now with my 8.5 month old.  I don't think he's going to have a hard time with it, he seems to enjoy the bottle so much now and only really likes nursing at night (which I'll continue for a while longer).  But I know what you mean, I feel so sad one minute and then the next I'll think, "I'm so glad this is almost over!"
