Hep B Vaccine??

Max has his 2 mo-old appointment and vaccinations scheduled this Tuesday. I am sticking with the routine schedule, however I am on the fence about the Hep B vaccine. We opted out of it at birth and I guess my concern is I don't want to get him vaccinated against anything he doesn't need to be vaccinated against. (He is not going to go to daycare).

I have read the literature on the vaccine and I guess I just want to get a concensus. So, did you get DC vaccinated against Hep B, why or why not. If no, are you going to? If so, when? TIA.

Re: Hep B Vaccine??

  • We delayed at birth but got it for her at her 2 month checkup - maybe 1 month checkup. She's in daycare though so that affected our decision.
  • Loading the player...
  • So far, the only shots we've delayed are the MMR (done at 2) and Jacob got his chicken pox vac. a little late (on accident) lol

So yes, we got dc's Hep Bs done...they are not in daycare...just something we did...no real reasons, we're just vac'ing with the "normal" schedule :)

  • We still haven't gotten it.

  • DD has not had it and won't until shes around 4-5. I know that my child is not having sex or using needles so I feel ok not doing it for a few years.

I just read a really interesting article on this particular vaccine the other day. When's his appt? I'll bring it for you at the next gtg if you're interested. (Its short)

Bwahahaha...I think I can keep a handle on Max's sex and drug, use for a few years at least! Wink His appointment is tomorrow. What does the article say?

It's from a book I'm reading. I'll send it to you on FB later today. :)

  • I have kept my DD on scheduled vac schedule.  Because she was going to daycare at 4 months (started in May).  But if she was a stay at home baby I might have considered delaying it.
