Think I'm Having a Miscarriage...

I had some spotting when I was PG with DD, but this is nothing like that. I have cramps and bleeding... not spotting. Anyway, besides wanting good thoughts and prayers, I'm looking for advice. Is there any reason to go to the ER tonight or should I just wait to call the OB tomorrow? I really don't want to drag the whole fam to the ER if they won't be able to anything for me anyway...

Re: Think I'm Having a Miscarriage...

  • I had some fairly heavy spotting at 5,7,12 weeks.  So if you go to the ER they can probably do a vag u/s and tell you if you are indeed having a miscarriage but not really anything they can do this early  I would absolutely call your ob office and talk to the dr on call and ask their advise as to what they think you should do.  Its just too early.  I'm so so so sorry!  Lots of prayers for you!

  • Right before we got pg with Jacob, I had a m/c and called the Dr's/nurses multiple times. They told me not to do anything unless I passed any sort of clot or experiences heavy bleeding. She said I may experience symptoms of a heavier than normal period. She was right, my cramps got worse and whenever I'd go to the bathroom, I'd have more blood. I didnt pass a clot b/c I was maybe 4 weeks along but I did have a +hpt and a few days later it was negative. The Dr says that its so common and thinks my egg did not attach itself to the uterus. Most women dont know they were ever pregnant but unfortunatley for me, I tested way early and that's the only reason I knew I was pg.
    We will definatley be praying for you today....so sorry.
    ::hugs::

  • I'm so sorry that you're going through this.  It's very scary.  I'll be sending good thoughts.

    I went to the ER at 14 weeks with pretty heavy bleeding.  I knew there was nothing that could be done if it was a miscarriage but I needed to know one way or the other.  Thankfully, they did an ultrasound and the baby was fine.  For me, not knowing was worse then the hassle of the ER.  I think it's a personal choice.

  • Thanks all for the kind words and good thoughts! I called the on-call doc and she advised me to lay low and get lots of fluids tonight. She said there is no need to go to the ER tonight and they will do an u/s tomorrow. I'm just resting and waiting... and DH is making me brownies ;)
  • I'm so sorry... I hope that's not the case :(

    I went through this about a month ago.  Here's the deal:  if you go to the ER, they can prob do an US and you'll know right away.  In my case, I wasn't far enough along to be an established patient at the ob so they wouldn't see me.  They told me to go to my reg doc (which is where I happen to work :)  We drew blood, then had to wait for three days to compare HCG numbers.  Those.three.days.sucked.

    I'm praying you and baby are okay...

    My first reaction to the title of your post was "OMG no!!" I don't know what else to say except that I hope it is just a false alarm and that you aren't having one. But if you are, I am so sorry.

  • I'm so sorry you are going through this.  I know a few moms that had heavy bleeding early in the pg and it turned out to be nothing!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!  I had a missed m/c at 12wks before DD (#1) was born, so I know how difficult it is to lose a baby.  Big, Big hugs!

  • I'm praying everything is okay....we're here for you no matter what happens.
  • I have read your post several times, and I just don't have the right words to convey how sorry I am that you are experiencing this. Everything seems inadequate. You are in my thoughts and I hope today brings pleasant surprises.
