Barfing in the toilet

Tillman is sick right now.  I hate it for him, but honeslty, it's so much easier as a mom when they learn to barf in the toilet.  It's so nice to be able to help him and rub his little back and blot his head with a wet rag, as opposed to trying to run with him to the bathroom while getting barfed on, or trying to get him to move to the wood floor or tile instead of the carpet.  Then, he's done and it's over with.  Wipe his face, give him a hug and then back on the couch for more resting and fluid cramming.

Just something for moms of younger ones to look forward to.

Re: Barfing in the toilet

  • Last time DD was sick, I a gave her a big plastic bowl, so if she felt like barfing, she could just hang her head over it, instead of running for the bathroom. Definately made clean up easier.

  • I vote for bowl.  Easy cleanup, no need to run to another room and less yucky for the sick one (no toilet water splashing!).

  • Yes, a bowl works well, too.  I would much rather just flush, though, than have to clean out the bowl.  We keep a bowl with him while he sleeps, though.

  • I second the barfing in the toilet. It's so nice having all three DC to this. When DH and I got together the kids were 6,4 and 1 1/2. And it was hard when DD who was 1 1/2 got sick. Plus it was weird but the boys didn't really understand that going to the toilet was a good idea. They would just throw up anywhere. DD caught on much faster then they did and sometimes we still have trouble with the oldest DS throwing up in the toilet but the other two got it down perfect. It does make clean up so much easier.
  • Hahaha! I remember thinking this exact same thing. So nice when they can tell you too. Who ever thought the words "Mommy, I need to throw up" would sound so nice compared to the at will barfing down everything. We do the bowl thing too if they are super sick...put is on a towel or a blanket and they just crawl up and watch tv.?
