TTC After a Loss

Question, Might be stupid though....

Do they keep U/S pictures in your records?

When we went in for our U/S and discovered that the hearts had stopped, I was to upset to even notice if she printed anything off. I'm pretty sure she did because she sent it to the on call Dr.

If they keep them in your records, I want to get a copy to take with me to the new OB and to have myself.

  • I did the exact same thing. I had my u/s at a different office, so I asked my OB about it and she said she'd check and if they did, she'd mail it to me. (Yeah, right.) So when I went for a f/u u/s to make sure everything was gone, I asked the tech and she said they don't keep them in the computer, but she didn't see any reason why she couldn't give me a printout.

  • I'm not sure.  The tech printed mine out and gave it to me Sad  I put it in the tote that is full of other things I bought.

Mine does.  I am so sorry that you had to endure your losses and I can imagine that's it's difficult to think clearly after getting such awful news.  You new OB should retrieve your old records for you.

I have the records, I was just curious about U/S pics. Esp. since that was the U/S where they saw the second baby the most clear. I'm trying to give all the info I can to my new OB.

  • Yes, they have to keep them.  They are considered part of your medical record, which legally they must keep in its entirety for a certain number of years (according to which state you live in, I think).

ETA: Sorry, I just caught up to the rest of what I missed yesterday evening and realized there was a F/U to this post.  My bad!
