Hm. It's bad enough I gotta learn Polish so I can understand what DH's family is saying about me. Now I have a whole new language to learn. What is "nft"? I checked the glossary on the right & it isn't there. TIA
You're learning Polish? How fun! nft is no future text.

Yeah, I think it's really important to teach the kids their background. I'm 100% American mutt. Hubby's 100% Polish (actually 1st generation American). I definately want to learn the language myself, but it is really tough.
Actually, I just came out of lurkdom. Please forgive me, but I'm a message board virgin. I'll learn as I go and try to be as resourceful as I can. BTW- your pic is awesome. You look so incredibly happy.
Just use the rule you use at a nail shop...it's all about the tone.
LOL all the ladys at my nail place sound the same and they talk really really quite one will say something and then out of no where someone wwwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy in the back starts laughing!
Polish is a bunch of German and Russian words thrown together and they have the dreaded cases... Does not sound like fun! At least they use Roman characters now instead of Cyrillic, but still. I know Bulgarian, which is completely useless here in the states, but when I go to Europe I can at least understand and half attempt to communicate with people in Slavic countries. If you are serious about it I do recommend getting the Rossetta stone software. It might be expensive but it is well worth it and it is a great program as it is based on the techniques that the State Dept and the US Peace Corps use for their language training.
I have the same problem with my DH's family - he's Portugese and that's all they like to talk - I have picked up on what they are saying......I'm just afraid to speak back in Portugese - might say the wrong thing! OOOPPSSS Wouldn't want that to happen!!!! LOL I'm Polish I can teach a phrase I know........ and your DH will love it!!! :O)
