We are still in our first home together, we purchased it in 2005 and plan to be here another 3-4 years. We will move probably two more times. Our next house will be an upgrade to something a little larger and then when our children move on we will retire in our forever home.

No! Actually we both dislike where we live, but we're here because of our jobs. My husband plans to "retire" in 2011 or so, and then we will move to the country. I can't wait!
We'll most likely remain there until decide to downsize, unless we move for family (our parents are getting older and may need help) or financial (we can't see living in a place with high taxes/cost of living after we are no longer bringing in the bucks, and would move to cut costs) reasons.
I keep reminding DH that I have never hit the 5-year mark in any house I've lived in, so it's time to start looking We are still open to moving for his job, or to find a house that we like better than the current one. I'm not a big believer in "forever homes", because our lives or the neighborhood could always change. I could see us moving at least once or twice more until we retire.
For us, we plan to move at least once more...our current house was intended to be a starter and we would both like something a little larger w/ more land! We have also tossed around the idea of moving cross-country, but are still undecided...we have some time to decide b/f DD is ready for school.
I'm a realtor, so I'm not sure we'll ever have a "forever" home. LOL! We plan to stay in our current home another year or so (that plan changes daily though) and we do HOPE to stay in our next one quite awhile. My husband has a "wandering spirit" though. By that I mean that he likes change.
We built a house while we were engaged and moved in when we got back from our honeymoon. It's 2800 sq. ft. with 8 acres and has 3 bedrooms, family room, dining room, kitchen, bonus room and 3 1/2 baths and 2 huge front and back porches. We love it! It's our forever home. It is 2 stories so when we get older we can turn our bonus room into a bedroom if we want too.

We are in our forever home. Our first home was a repo condo that we fixed up with intentions of selling to fund our forever home. Well it worked and we bought this home which was in great need of repair. We have replaced nearly every surface in this house and we just can't see moving and starting all over.?
Feel free to flame away....but I want to have a really huge and impressive forever home. Like the kind of home that you gasp when you see. While it will probably never happen, we are trying anyway! Our starter home is ~1700 sq. ft., and we would LOVE 2,500-3,000. We both like options and love designing/decorating so I definitely foresee moving in our future.

You and me both! Or at least the places where I have chosen to live! We'll be moving when this house sells, and hope to find at least a semi-perm house/ property. We're aiming for something that needs work with a good chunk of property so that we can add on in time and still have a decent sized yard. But who knows!
Right now we live in a 2-bdrm, 1-bath 1200 sq. ft. home. By the end of the summer, we hope to have our renovation complete (or almost done). By then, we should have a 4-bdrm, 3-bath, 2800 sq. ft. home. This is definitely our forever home.
We have a three bedroom / 3 bath house, with a half finished basement. We've been here four years, and I don't see us moving anytime soon...However, I want a finished basement, so I have a feeling DH will compare the costs of moving to a house same size but with a finished basement compared to finishing ours......we're not the home improvement types of folks!

Ditto this exactly. I love my current house, but wish we had a bigger yard. We have a quarter acre, which is a lot in Denver, but I want a big yard with trees that don't have to be tied up to stand.
