Pregnant after a Loss

Quick Question...

We're going in for our first u/s on Friday.  I will be 7w6d then, so we will hopefully see a strong heartbeat assuming everything is healthy.  I have another appointment with my OB on June 18th, when I will hopefully be 9w5d.  I was wondering if we would be able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler at the office, or if it's still too early.  I don't think that they are planning on giving me another ultrasound that day, so I want to be prepared to advocate for myself at this appointment coming up if it won't be possible to hear the heartbeat on the doppler.   Thanks for reading!

Re: Quick Question...

  • At 8 weeks, they told me I had a 50/50 chance (didn't hear it)... I got a doppler at home at 10w1d, and was able to hear it with a lot of work.

I would say they might try and be able to hear it, maybe not.  Some docs don't even do doppler until 12 weeks.

     Good luck!

  • Well I could find it on my doppler at home by then, but it depends. The nurse at my drs office today told me that she can usually pick it up on the doppler at 10 weeks, but some women it can take until 18!! Just don't be surprised if they can't find it. If they can't they'll prob give you an u/s to do the HB check:)
