A/C repairs.... I might cry

So our AC hasnt been working all weekend... really we get whatever temp is outside and here that means HOT! They came today and he said we have a freon leak and we have to replace both of our coils and its going to cost like $3500! What a pain!!!!!!! Im so hot and jsut want ac again but dang what a crapload to get it!

OMG and you live in TX?  That sounds brutal.  It sucks but you need a/c!

We don't have a/c.  Hardly anyone here does.  It gets hot though, (well we consider 95 excruciatingly hot) and I have a little portable unit that sorta helps...

You might want to check into replacing the entire unit - there are gov. incentives right now where if you up-grade to a 16 seer unit you get up to $1500 back from the gov. for the install costs.  It might be worth investigating.

Oh that just downright sucks!! That could be thirty five hundred dollars spent on baby items!!

I've also heard about that govenment incentive for energy star rating a/c units or something along those lines... definately worth your while to look into it, or get some other quotes to see if the leak can't be repaired in the mean time?!

Oh man and Houston is HOT and HUMID!  I'd look into what the pp have suggested.

I'm so sorry, and it's so miserably hot and humid today here too.  We had to replace our entire system 2 summers ago, so I feel your pain.

Until it's fixed, just try to keep fans on/blowing on you, take cool showers (not cold necessarily, but even lukewarm - cool will feel good) and think about wetting a few washcloths and sticking them in the freezer to help you cool down - especially good applied to the back of the neck or the underside of your wrists.
