I am a former certified Infant/Toddler teacher with a BA in Psyshology. I am first aid/cpr trained (can re-certify if needed).
My MIL knows a woman who needs a nanny for her 4 month old when she returns to work. They live down the street from us. She thought I would be interested. What would be a fair amount for me to charge? I want to make it worth my time, but not seem like I am charging a lot.
What do you pay or would you pay for this?
Re: What would you pay for a nanny?
I'm not sure how much I'd pay/charge, but I think a lot of it depends on if you're going to watch the baby at your house vs her house and whether your kids are going to be around as well (I'm not sure if they're close to being in school or not).
I typically think of a nanny as going to the home of the family and giving 100% of her attention to the family's child(ren). I think if it's at your home with your kids there, it's more of a babysitter/home childcare situation which I think warrants quite a bit less $ than a true nanny. Does that make sense?
Here in Boston you usually pay $12-$15 an hour. We had a part time nanny for DS (one day a week) and paid $15 an hour. She came to our house and had no other kids... If there were other kids or if it has been at another house I would have paid less.
