We've about had it. We love snuggling with her when she comes in & passes out in our bed... but she comes in & is ready to party which just isn't good.
She falls asleep in her own bed with one of us sitting in a chair next to her. She's been a bit clingy though, and keeps wanting more & more - as in, she wants to hold my hand. Or have me rub her forehead. Or rest my hand on her tummy.
She doesn't like to be alone, wakes up lonely and wants company, etc. I gave her my body pillow to snuggle with, it's ignored. She has many stuffed animals. Not good enough apparently. She likes to sleep with quiet music on. I'm out of ideas.... ??
Re: How to get DD to fall asleep AND stay in her room?
I feel your pain. Audrey is the same way.
I put on classical music and then she still will come into my room at some point in the night.
I joked to someone that I am ready to tie her wrist the bedpost (they didn't think it was funny) She has stuffed animals and all that jazz too.
ditto this.
we also got her one of those glow bugs and she loves that to sleep with. We also put a white noise machine in her room. I think she was just laying there listening for any noises we might make in the house and wondering what we were doing. The white noise machine works great for muffling all of that!
We let Jack bring one toy to bed with him that is different from a lovey or stuffed animal. Last night it was his cement mixer. We put Bob Marley on his iPod to keep him company. We also lock the door some of the time because he comes out to play if we don't. I never thought I'd be one of those mothers who did that. In fact I used to be completely against that. We have a Jack and Jill bath that connects his room to the front guest room so we have easy access back in plus the key. I know I'm trying to justify it.
Last night I went up to kiss Jack goodnight on my way to bed and I found his door open. We did not lock it last night. I couldn't find him in his room anywhere. I looked in our room and found him sacked out on my side of the bed with his blanket and lovey. My husband put him back to bed when he came up and then Jack found his way back to us at 2am. We never slept with our kid in our bed until recently. I'm not a fan of it. I'm usually asleep when he climbs in my husband's side and I don't notice it for a while. I'll either carry him back to his bed or I'll go climb in a guest bed. The guest rooms are darker in the early morning anyway.
