IUD removal question?

Did your doctor tell you to wait to have a period before you try to get pregnant?

Did they tell you why?

    when I got mine put in the ob told me that once I have it removed I can start ttc the following cycle...

    If it's hormonal I'd say it's to make sure the drugs are out of your system first.  If not, err, no clue.

    I was thinking it might be just to make sure all systems are "go" and to more easily date the pregnancy. . . whatever.

    Mine didn't tell me to wait.  Said go right ahead and start trying.  We did and I got PG right away before getting a period.  Good luck!!

    It makes it easier for them to date the pregnancy if you've had AF. But honestly, who are we trying to make this easy on? I had sporadic AF so they just did an early u/s to date.

    I was told to wait one cycle because you have a higher chance of having a mc.  This is from the doctor who never called me back when I was having a mc (year after having it removed)

    My doc didn't say we had to wait, but that it may take a cycle for the uterine lining to rebuild (Mirena).  Good Luck!
