ok now I'm curious....

Ok Keren's post got me thinking how many of you drink regular pop?  I haven't had anything that wasn't diet in so many years I just don't even think about it anymore.  There is no way I could do 300+ calories and 37grams of sugar if it wasn't a milkshake lol But I am a coke zero addict!

How many of you drink regular pop?

  • I don't drink any pop at all.  The carbonation does not agree with me.  I live on Minute Maid Lite Lemonade, though (and water)!

  • I used to drink either Diet Coke or Coke Zero.  I haven't had a regular soda in about 7 years.

  • Like I said in the other thread, we drink all natural soda. It's cheap and it's way healthier. ?Even the diet drinks have sugar substitutes and chemicals that aren't good for you (IMO). Sometimes I think the diet drinks can be worse than the regular ones.

Every now and then (once a quarter) I crave good old fashioned sprite if I'm at a restarant, but that's about it.?

  • If I drink soda (which is rare) I drink regular. We never have soda in the house so I'll sometimes have a Coke when we go out to dinner or order pizza. Not a fan of how diet tastes.

  • We don't drink much soda, sometimes when we are out for a greasy burger or pizza I will get regular coke.  If we do buy it I get diet cherry coke, but a 12 pack will last months.

  • I can't handle caffine so the only regular pop I drink is Sprite/7up/Sierra Mist. I prefer it mixed with cranberry juice, but it is also yummy mixed with pineapple juice.

  • I rarely drink soda but if I do, I drink regular or cane-sugar soda.  I avoid artificial sweeteners whenever possible.
  • I haven;t touched a regular soda since the summer of 1985 and I lost my taste for it during my pregnancy.  DH pounds the stuff.  In a worrisome way.  Like 3-6 cans of coke a DAY.  I'd stop buying it, but I'm the one that pays attention to sales and he'd buy cases full price and pretty soon we'd be poor.
  • I don't drink soda very often but when I do I drink regular. I don't believe in low sugar/low fat/low etc etc. Mostly I drink juice with sparkling water or natural soda.
  • i used to be a diet dr.pepper fanatic but i'm not supposed to have artificial sweetner anymore. in the last 2 months i've had 2 regular sodas and then they gave me the craps so i'm not looking forward to having another :)

  • I must be in the minority because I drink soda a lot and I drink regular soda most of the time. A few months ago H decided that he'd like to switch to diet coke, so we always have diet coke at home. I will have a regular soda with my lunch a few times a week at work though.

  • At home we have shifted to Thomas Kemper or Jones Soda.  They are cane-sugar + caffine-free (there are some caffinated Jones Sodas, but not the ones we get).  We can't stand diet anything.

I used to drink coke frequently (1 / day) but stopped a while ago - don't remember why.  Now I only drink it (< half a can) if I have a headache or 1-2 sips when DH orders it at dinner.

  • I've been drinking an occasional regular pop since I've been pregnant b/c my doc said he'd rather I not have artificial sweeteners in the first tri.   I really really really prefer Diet Coke though.   I've been drinking Dr. Pepper sometimes.   But I'm going to ask if I can go back to Diet COke now.

I was thinking the same thing. I am addicted to cherry coke. I am definitely trying to drink less soda, but I don't like the taste of diet soda.

  • I have one diet soda a day. Im not a soda snob, so I will drink whatever.
  • I have always been a coke fan myself. But of Diet Coke. Diet Coke with Lime is my favorite! When I got PG all I wanted was Pepsi which was so funny because I never really drank it.

Now though, I usually drink water, Vitamin Water and Sobe Life Waters. Or of course Crystal Lite.

  • ::raises hand::
until today at least...Im definatley going to limit myself to all the Coke/Sprite I used to drink ...I swear I had it flowing in my blood!

  • Ironically, I'm typing this while drinking a diet Dr. Pepper. Smile I'm mostly a diet soda person, though when I was nauseous in the first trimester, regular Coke helped so I would sometimes have that. I do try to limit my consumption to one a day or less.

  • Have you non-diet likers tried Coke Zero?  Its pretty hard to tell that it is diet!

hmmm I wonder how many of you non-pop drinkers drink coffee?  I can't have coffee so that is why I drink pop!

  • I have tried cutting back but it's really hard for me. I used to drink pepsi like it was going out of style. A couple of years ago I started drinking diet pepsi/coke either one worked for me but since I've gotten pg I've worked really hard on cutting back and not drinking diet. Sometimes I cheat (when DH isn't around) and snag a diet coke because I'm craving it hardcore. I do drink ALOT of water, diet lemonade, crystal lite, and my own iced sun tea.
  • WOW! I just read through the posts and also noticed a ton of you used to or still do drink diet soda!!Ick!  icky! I hate the taste of the nurtrasweet...Diet Coke is the worst! lol...Bring on the regular Coke and Sprite

I don't drink either. Pop maybe 2x per month and coffee less than that.

  • No coffee ever.  I swear I have serious anti-coffee taste buds.  I can taste if they stir my hot chocolare with the same spoon they stir lattes or mochas with.  Even a drop of coffee tastes disgusting to me :)

I do drink tea, but have really cut back since pregnant.

  • I haven't had a regular soda in years. I can't handle the idea of drinking my calories.  It seems like such a waste.  I do drink diet soda, but I really try to limit my intake because I know it's not the best thing in the world for me.

I also rarely drink pop, but when I do, it is definately regular. I hate diet pop..it tastes yucky to me. I can afford a 150 can of coke a few time a year, but I'd rather have ice tea.

  • I switched to Diet Coke years ago when I started Weight Watchers and it became something I craved. I love fountain Diet Coke.  I cut back on the artifical stuff when I got pregnant and when drink a cane sugar soda when I wanted soda.  I got really into the VitaWaters and Juice and really lately with the heat my drink of choice has been water and I'm liking unsweetend tea too.  I'm about to start WW again so I probably wont use the points for a soda or even a vitawater...I'm so stingy w/my points! haha

Aspartame is horrible! my mom sent me an article that said aspartame turns into formaldahyde (sp?) when heated above 85 degrees. Our bodies are 98.6!

I used to be insanely addicted to regular soda but gave it up when I got pregnant, not it upsets my stomach, I still crave it sometimes though.

  • I'm a regular Coke fan.  WHen I was doing WW, I did swithc to Diet Coke. SOO not the same, but when out and ordering a soda, that's what I'd get.

WHen I got PG, I immedietly stoped drinking all caffenine in the 1st tri.  No pop, or coffee.  I'd get a tall steamed milk with flavor syrup at Starbucks instead.  :)

After the 1st tri is over, I do get an occasional regular Coke.  (we have Pepsi at home now.... it's SOO not the same!)  I also drink a tall latte in the cool weather and now a light frappuccino in the warm weather.  That's it though, so other coffee.
