Anyone's DC had hernia surgery?

I took DS to the dr yesterday because he left testicle was swollen.  He doesn't complain of any pain and it hasn't bothered his bathroom habits.  Dr said he's got an inguinal hernia that needs surg.  We're going to the surgeon today.  Is it an outpatient procedure?  How long before DC was back to normal?  TIA.

    DS had surgery for an inguinal hernia (on both sides) at 2 months old. ?It is usually a day surgery, but he was kept overnight for observation due to his age and having been premature. ?He was totally normal later that day - just had some Tylenol and slept a little longer than normal. ?Of course he was still really little. ?I'm sure your DS will do great!

    I had an inguinal hernia, so I can only speak on what they did for me as an adult. It was an outpatient surgery. Very little pain, and I was only on Motrin for pain afterwards. I just wasn't allowed to lift anything heavy for several weeks. I felt perfectly fine, though.

    Nathan was 2 and had it done.  We had a hard time keeping him from running around!
