[NBR] Question for WW ladies

Do you allot a specific amount of points each day to proteins?  Getting in enough protein the one thing I was never able to master on the Flex plan.  The materials are so vague on how much you're supposed to have a day, which seems odd because most of the other food groups have defined daily minimums.

I've talked to several leaders and asked on the WW message boards, but I get different answers from everyone.

Re: [NBR] Question for WW ladies

  • Hi Jamie!  I dont' really set aside a protein amount daily but I do eat some sort of protein for lunch and dinner.  I love that I can have 2 fat free hotdogs for only 1.5pts and I get turkey sticks at costco that are only 1pt each.  But mostly I focus on eating filling foods.  How much are you eating a day?  What makes you think you need more?

  • Hi!

I try to eat about 4 oz a day.  That's usually about 4-6 points, depending on the kind of protein I'm eating.

I had my leader review my tracker because I was getting really really hungry during the day (this was back when I was doing WW hard core) and I couldn't figure out why.  She said "you need more protein" and didn't give me any idea how much was "more".

  • Hi there,

I'm actually a WW leader, too.  On the new Momentum plan, we say 1-2 serving of lean protein a day, each serving should be about 3 ounces.  However, if you're focusing on the Filling Foods (which will really help with your satisfaction), you may eat more.  I especially (before I was pregnant anyway) loved to use SetPOINTS for my protein so I didn't worry so much about portion size and just ate to satisfaction...really great for higher point foods like salmon and lean steak.

    Hope that helps!

  • Great.  Thanks Jeffie!

  • No, not really.  If you have the patience for it, try tracking your food on DailyPlate.com or a similiar site for a week or so.  It breaks down how much carbs, protein and fat you eat every day.  I found out I eat way more protein than I ever thought I did.
  • Sparkpeople.com is also a good website for that too.
