DH and I went to Carkeek park last night to enjoy the beautiful weather, and just before we headed down to the beach he ran back to the car to grab his phone. I was slowly walking along the sidewalk (wearing sensible shoes, no less) when all of a sudden my knee went out and I fell down, hard. On my belly.
It was so scary! There were suddenly like 8 people standing around me freaking out, trying to help. I managed to get up and find a bench, and a very sweet elderly Russian couple stayed with me until DH came back. I was fine until he got there, then I started bawling. My leg was totally beat up and my hands were shredded, and I wasn't feeling the baby move. I called L&D, and they wanted me to come in for monitoring. The baby didn't move the whole way to the hospital - I was so scared. But as soon as I got hooked up to the monitors he was moving around like crazy. They said their main concern was placental abruption and that the baby looked fine. I got to stay until 1am when they said everything looks okay and sent me home with a bunch of scary stuff to look out for.
I've been sleeping in fits since then, mostly because I'm so freaking sore, but feeling okay except for worrying that every contraction is a warning sign and for the waves of irrational guilt for falling on my baby, which make me burst into tears.
Ladies, don't fall on your bellies okay? ?

When I read the title of this post, my heart sunk for you for a min. But then thankfully I read it and saw everyone is ok. ::BIG BEAR HUGS:: I am so glad everyone is ok. I can only imagine how shaken up you were. I have this fear all the time too, especially since I have been super clumsy lately. I even thought about this before I read your post as I was walking through the halls at work and they were moping them which made them slippery. All I could think of was, don't fall don't fall.
And don't feel guilty for falling, it can happen to anyone and it was not your fault. It's not like you were trying to climb something and you fell. You were just walking. Rest lots today and I am sure everyones thoughts will be with you. =]
