Tell me I'm fine and this is normal...

I'm at 5 wks and a day or two (IDK I can't see my ticker as I write this) and I have been having on and off cramping for prob two weeks and just today I have started having a TINY big of brownish discharge. ?I can't really call it spotting because I only find it on my underwear after a while between potty breaks it is never on the tp. ?It's just some old blood or random discharge right? ?TIA also, if I should be more alarmed please tell me.

I don't know how normal it is, but I can tell you with DS number one, I had brownish stuff in between potty breaks up until I tested at 6 weeks.  So, I guess it could be normal.

I can't tell you whether or not to be alarmed or if anything is wrong, but I can tell you that I STILL feel period like cramps and I'm 12 weeks into it. They are mild and mostly just annoying, but they still come around. I think it's my uterus stretching and it's normal.

Had it at 6w 2d and all was fine. Having it again today, brown discharge, no cramps. Seems to have stopped now. Planning to call dr. in the morning to see what they'd suggest. It sucks all around. I didn't think the stress would overtake the excitement - doesn't seem right. GL!

My understanding is that brown is always fine....it's when it's red that it could be a problem.  Spotting stinks, though, it always makes us worry, even when we shouldn't!

I am going through the same thing right now and it appears to be normal.  Do a search for implantation bleeding (spotting, period but pregnant, etc).  I hope this will ease your mind.  It helped to ease mine.  I go to the doctor tomorrow to get some official info.  I think they also have some info on this site as well about the issue.    Apparently it is very common.

Unless you are feeling any cramping its likely normal but I would call your Dr regardless and see if maybe you can have an u/s b/c of the spotting.

Agree with PPs, my midwife says brown ok, red bad.  But always good to check with yours just to be safe.  Also she calls the mild "menstrual" type cramps "growing pains" which for some reason, put a pleasant happy spin on them for me - so now I just make note that the baby/uterus are growing & that makes me happy.

I was also told by my OB that brown discharge is okay and quite common during the first trimester.

As for the cramping, try drinking lots of water.  My OB said 8 oz for every hour that I'm awake (eek) and so far that has really helped alleviate most of the cramping.

I spotted for the first four months of my first pregnancy and am spotting again this time.  It is hard not to worry, but it can be completely normal.

I don't think there is any "normality" to any pregnancy because they are all the same. I would call your Dr. just to make sure it's nothing to cause alarm.

I've had brown spotting be fine and had it not be fine.  I don't buy the brown is always fine because it wasn't for me.  However, I think that more often than not it is fine and means old blood.  This pregnancy I've been spotting brown on and off since the beginning and as recently as Saturday.  I even spotted pink two times which earned me an u/s.  The baby was fine and we even saw the heart beat.

I'd call your doctor to report it and see what they say!  GL!
