Cradle Safety Standards

My mom has offered us my old cradle to use for our son before he moves to his crib. It's about 27-28 years old.

I'm not averse to using it because it's only for a few months and it would save money, but how can I find out if it meets current safety standards? Everything I see is for cribs, not for cradles, and I don't know if there is any difference.

One of the main issues with cribs is if you can fit a pop can through the bars. If you can they are too far apart, If not, you are fine. We used a 28 year old cradle and crib for that matter with DS, and it has been fine. The cradle is not used long anyway. As soon as they are big enough to roll over, it is time to move!
