1st Trimester

Tastebud Turnaround?

How many of you girls have experienced a tastebud turnaround?  Foods I used to eat with gusto -- i.e. steak -- have turned bitter and unappealing.  Other things I used to constantly crave -- i.e. sweets -- have fallen off the radar alltogether. 

Has this happened to anyone else?  What foods do you no longer enjoy?

  • Nothing yet, but I wish my taste for sweets would go away! That's all I can think about right now.

  • i used to be able to live on mexican food. now, the thought of chips and salsa really makes me want to gag. even my absolute favorite, guacamole. i can eat some things at taco bell though. also, i normally love chicken. i cant eat ANY meat, starting a few weeks ago. DH brought home kfc for himself the other night and i thought i was going to have to run to the bathroom (and who doesnt love the smell of fried chicken??)
  • I used to LOVE sweets and want them all the time.  I still have Easter candy and Girl Scout cookies just gathering dust as they are so unappealing to me right now!

  • I have had  a complete aversion to anything salty. Even things that never tasted salty before, such as cheese sticks, now taste too salty to eat. I went to my favorite lunch place, Panara Bread, the other day and ordered a hot turkey sandwich. I took one bite and it was soooo salty that I had to bring it home for my husband to try. He said it tasted great and was not salty at all.
  • I am craving salty things- salt & vinegar chips, pickles, pretzels, dried salted plums...and tangy citrus- lemon and limes

  • I threw away a bunch of leftover pizza earlier today because just seeing it in the fridge was making me feel sick.  Usually leftover pizza doesn't last but a couple days around here.
  • Yep, it's starting.  For example, I usually loathe V8 juice. Now I cannot get enough (although I am limiting myself to 8 oz./day)

    Chicken is a staple in our home and I am literally having to force myself to eat it these days.  It's just not appealing to me right now.

    Usually I crave white carbs, but right now they're really turning me off..I bought a snickerdoodle at Whole Foods today and really regretting eating it.

    What I want most is fresh fruit and plain yogurt or cottage cheese.  Eggs I am doing in the mornings.  I am also loving frozen juice pops!  YUM!
