Bacterial Vaginosis

So after breaking all of the rules I ever set for myself I googled my symptoms of spotting and the fishy odor I smelled this morning. Every website I found says it could be BV. I forgot to mention the odor to the on-call doctor, but I will tell my doctor in the morning when I call her. Have any of you ever had this while pregnant? I mean looking at the symptoms and how you can get it, it doesn't seem like I could have it  but you never know. Just curious. Thanks!

I only had it once while pregnant but the dr caught it before I had any symptoms.  The doc told me that it was a disease that was transmitted through sex but it was not an STD in the bad since.  Your mans natural bacteria and your natural bacteria are just at odds with each other.  In my case I had no natural bacteria and he did so it overwhelmed my body.  He also ensured me that I didnt have to beat my boyfriend up it didnt mean he was cheating or anything just that I had to get used to his bacteria.

I had it years ago, but not while pregnant.  My doctor told me that your vagina has very sensitive Ph, and when it's through off balance, BV can grow.  That is what happened to me.  I went dancing at a club one night and my nether-region got way too hot.

I hope if you have it, the doctor can put you on some good antibiotics.  Just remember to eat a yogurt every day!

I had it a few years ago, but I'd never noticed any symptoms, they just caught it at my exam.

They say that the test kit they sell at Wal-Mart is really good at detecting this & yeast infections.

I've had this multiple times prior to getting pg, and once while pg. my OB/GYN says my pH levels just get off, there is nothing that I'm doing to "cause" it, some people are just more susceptible to it.

We found it at my 20wk appt and after some debate, they prescribed me an oral med. I had a weird reaction to the med, so I stopped taking it after a day, and the BV cleared up all on its own. There is some uncertaintly about whether to treat BV in 2nd tri, so if they tell you to wait it out, don't be surprised. I didn't really have any symptoms other than an increased discharge and an odor. If you have itching or other symptoms, it could be a YI instead, and that you will want to treat.

I had BV on top of a YI, however I wasn't pg. Its def possible to get when pg because your body is changing especially everything down there!

Thanks girls...I'll talk to my dr about it tomorrow and just ask about it at my appt on Thursday. Now I'm second guessing myself though. There is a slight odor, but it almost has more of a "blood smell"--sooo gross, I know--rather than a fishy odor. Either way I'd rather it not smell!! Just trying not to be a complete hypochondriac. Damnn google!!

I had this at one point....it happened from using some soap and getting down there.  My PH did not like it!  Good luck!

I didnt have it but my doc and I talked about it. ?She said alot of women get it while pregnant because of taking long warm baths, apparently the bacteria breeds in that environment, and she told me to to take baths at all during the 1st trimester because while in the embrionic stage bv can be very bad, but you my dear are much further along and should be fine. ?I think the treatement is pretty simple. ?GL

A lot of women have BV and about half are totally symptomless.  It's really easy to get, actually.
