What is "dusk" to you?

We're going to a drive-in tonight and it says it starts at dusk. ?Would you say that's sunset, or just when it starts to darken a little? ?The gates open at 7, but sunset isn't until 8:15 or so. ?I'd rather not wait in the car with the kids for an hour!

    Dusk, to me, is when the sun is low in the sky before sunset. It's still light out, just not 'bright'.

    DH and I investigated this a while back as a police man gave my DH a rough time about being at the local park past "dusk".  The official word is one hour before the sunset for that day. If sunset is 8:15, I'd say 7:15 is dusk.

    If they were going to fine my DH along those lines, I would say its a pretty sure bet for a drivein.

    All I got from dictionary.com was "the darker stage of twilight". ?That was helpful, no?

    We went to a drive in on Thursday, they said the movie was going to start at 8:35 it actually started at 8:50.
