What do they feel like? My doctors keep asking if I'm having them. I feel like a dumbas$ because I don't know!! They ask if I'm having cramps. Well, I get lots of feelings down there, but I don't know if I'd describe it as cramps.
I don't think I'm having BH contractions because I think I'd notice them first of all. Second, when I was in L&D on Sunday they had me hooked up to that contraction machine for an hour and nothing popped up.
Also, I'm having pain inside my vadge... Like up in there... it's hard to explain. It's just sharp pains. Is this normal? I'm always worried it's something bad happening to my cervix.
Re: BH contractions and other pains
I get the "up in there" pains all the time. Last week I had them so bad, and for so long--about 3 days, that I got worried. I got a pelvic exam and my cervix was totally closed and an u/s showed it was measuring 5cm!! The dr at MFM said it was totally normal to feel weird stuff even if it is more painful than you'd expect and not in the normal places. I'd say it's normal.
As for the ctx, I have no idea!! I hope someone else can help you.
For a while, I wouldn't notice my BH, but I was having them. I'd place my hands on my belly and realize it was hard all over, but I never felt the BH come on, it was just coincidence that I touched my stomach. I felt the same way you did - if the doc said to only call if I was getting more than 6 an hour, how was I supposed to know if I couldn't feel them??
Now that I'm further along, they are more noticeable. Like pp said, it's an all over tightening. Not really painful, just uncomfortable. And they usually make me have to pee RIGHT.NOW. I think they cause baby to squish my bladder more. And really, I don't even think I had any at all until around 33wks or so, so you may not be having any yet.
As for the pains, it's probably just your ute continuing to stretch. Some people talk about "lightning crotch" which are shooting pains around your cervix. You'll feel all sorts of craziness throughout your pregnancy. As long as you aren't cramping (like AF cramps) or bleeding, it's probably normal!
